Wellington Regional Medical Center wants to get your whole family ready when you have a new one on the way!  The range of classes they offer is amazing!  My favorite was their prenatal yoga class!  Check out the offerings from the hospital below!

Lamaze Childbirth Education

Weekday classes consist of three sessions. These classes are designed to prepare parents for birth of their baby, by covering such topics as labor and delivery, labor support techniques, breathing and relaxation, pain management, postpartum care and C-Section information. Saturday classes consist of two sessions.

All instructors are ASPO Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educators.

2018 Schedule:

  • First and second Saturday of every month from 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m
  • First three Wednesdays of every month from 7 – 9:30 p.m.

Prenatal Yoga

According to the American Pregnancy Association, prenatal yoga can have many benefits, including reduced stress, improved sleep, increased strength and decreased physical symptoms such as lower back pain, nausea, shortness of breath and headaches.

ABCs of Breastfeeding

This class prepares parents-to-be with breastfeeding education and basics. The class is taught by a certified lactation consultant and provides the support you need to make breastfeeding a joyous and rewarding experience.

The class features information regarding positioning the baby, establishing your milk supply and pumping, nutrition, and information on going back to work and breastfeeding.

  • Second Tuesday of the month from 7 – 9 p.m.
  • Every third Saturday of the month from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Baby Care

This class is designed to give expectant parents the skills and confidence needed to care for their new arrival. Topics include umbilical cord and circumcision care, bathing, feeding, burping and more.

  • Every third Saturday of the month from 1 – 3 p.m.

Infant CPR

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency procedure that you can use to save a baby’s life if his or her breathing or heartbeat has stopped. If you are trained in CPR for infants, you can help avoid death or brain damage by administering CPR until medical help arrives. This class in CPR and first aid for infants is taught by an American Heart Association-certified instructor. Class size is limited to 14 people.

Sibling Class

This class is taught by an obstetrics nurse to help big brothers or big sisters adapt to their new roles when you bring a new addition into your family. Class size is limited to 10 children and a parent must accompany their child at all times.

Boot Camp for Dads — Getting Ready for Fatherhood

Boot Camp for Dads — Getting Ready for Fatherhood is a three-hour workshop for new dads taught by other new dads. New dads coach expectant dads on the realities of fatherhood. Dads-to-be will learn about becoming a father, forming a new family, birth and bonding and caring for a new mother and baby.

Workshop size is limited to 22 fathers-to-be, so reserve your spot today. There is a $25 fee to attend this course, payable at the beginning of the class.

TEACUP Preemie Program

The TEACUP Preemie Program provides support groups for families in the NICU at Wellington Regional Medical Center on the first Thursday of each month from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. To reserve your place, please call 561-687-8115, extension 137.
