Embrace the Shake!

Embrace the Shake, those are the words that you see on the back wall as you walk into Core Evolution in Wellington.  As an avid runner, I can go run 6 miles with ease but avoid planks and sit-ups like the plague.  My tummy has always been my “problem area” and after having 2 c-sections that caused the lower part of my abs to become practically numb, I’m not sure if “problem area” fully describes my lack of strength in my core.  When I lose weight, it comes off of my legs and butt first… but the spare tire seems to remain.  I am at a cross roads of throwing away all of my two-piece bathing suits or really committing to do something about it.

I wanted to try Core Evolution after learning they opened a studio in Wellington!

What is Core Evolution?  Core Evolution is proud to be the only Legree Method/Megaformer studio in the area!

First, what is a Megaformer?
The Megaformer is a spring based resistance machine that the 50 minute classes are done on.

What is the Legree Fitness Method?

According to the official Lagree Fitness site, Lagree Fitness is a method that infuses cardio, flexibility, core, balance and strength training for absolute body transformation.

Core Evolution explains that the innovative Megaformer Machine/Lagree Fitness Method is specifically designed to strengthen, lengthen, and tone the body quickly and safely. This method emphasizes both strength training and cardio elements while maintaining a safe low impact environment for joints, muscles and ligaments.

What can you expect from a class?

The classes are all 50 minutes long.  The Wellington location features 10 Megaformers.  You need to sign up on the Core Evolution website to save your spot for the class.  Make sure to bring a pair of sticky socks (socks with grip on the bottom).  They sell these at the studio if you don’t own a pair.

Upon arriving, you check in and pick a machine.  With the small number of machines, the class is set up to feel like private training in a small group.  This is done intentionally so that the instructor can make sure you are doing the moves safely and effectively.  As the class begins, the instructor explains each move and explains how to breath effectively.  I am not the most graceful girl in the world so there are bars to assist you to balance and the teacher offers modifications of the tougher moves.  Throughout the class, the instructor is walking around and checking on everyone so you can really learn the correct way to do the moves.  I really appreciate the support and encouragement I’m given throughout the classes!

Heather Lowenthal, mother of 2 and owner of Palm Beach’s Posh Parties, has been doing Core for 2 1/2 years.  “At first I didn’t think I could do it – it took me a long time to get the courage to try it.  It was so hard  (I actually almost walked out of the first class!) but one of the instructors encouraged me to keep trying even if I only improved a little bit at a time.  After that I was addicted,” Heather explains. “It is still challenging to this day and every day is different but I have become so much stronger and it is extremely rewarding to know you can accomplish anything if you put your mind to it!”

So back to this “Embrace the Shake” business.  So you learn what that means about 15 minutes into your first class.  My legs were literally shaking!  This means your muscles are working hard core!!!

It truly is an intense, full body workout but great for all body types and athletic levels.  They even have clients that sing the praises of the workout while they are pregnant and post pregnancy! (of course check with your doctor before starting a work out regiment while pregnant!)

Still smiling at the end of class!

So I would recommend going and trying Core Evolution out!  I love their Wellington location but there are also studios in Palm Beach Gardens and Boca Raton.  The first class is $15!  When you are there, check out their specials that they are featuring for summer!  And embrace the shake, it means its working!

Thank you to Core Evolution Wellington for partnering with Palm Beach Moms Blog. All opinions are 100% my own.
