What can I say? I am a sucker for boutique fitness studios. That’s why when I heard that Club Pilates was opening in Wellington I was eager to give it a try. There is something about having a small intimate environment when getting your workout in.
I have taken a few pilates classes in the past but I had never taken a Reformer based pilates class. I will admit I wasn’t sure what to expect but I will tell you it was one of the greatest workouts I have had in a long time. I researched Pilates a bit and found that the benefits of Pilates are endless and the results can be amazing.
At Club Pilates Wellington they are equipped to work with the experienced athlete looking to step up their training or assist the newbie looking to start a new fitness routine. The full body, low impact workouts offered provides a high impact challenge to the stabilizing muscles of the core. Club Pilates offers classes using a variety of specialized equipment including the Reformer, EXO-chair, Bosu Ball, TRX Suspension Trainer, springboards and more. The reformer flow class I took helps to elongate and strengthen your entire body and it is low impact which was huge for me as I have a few injuries that seem to get aggravated if I workout using high impact/high intensity.
When picking my first class I went with an intro level Reformer Flow 1 class to make sure I didn’t overdo it. One thing to make a note of is that you must wear gripper socks, which I had never heard of but luckily they sell them right there in the studio. There were approximately 8 women in my class with one instructor and they all made me feel very welcomed and comfortable. The Classes are 50 minutes and I am usually one of those people watching the clock to see when the workout is over but with the Reformer Pilates class it literally flew by (I was actually enjoying my workout). Club Pilates provides premium, reformer-based group Pilates classes, true to the original method. Their dynamic class sessions are available at a variety of levels and at convenient class times.
I really enjoyed my workout at Club Pilates and I highly recommend giving them a try. They offer a variety of group class membership packages that range from a 4-pack of classes to unlimited classes.
